A former classmate of mine published this article on wellsite life for a Geologist. It's extremely insightful for both those coming to be and those in the office who have not had the opportunity to see the ins and outs of the career. Often wellsite is oversimplified as it is easy to do with any job, have a great wellsite geologist is just like having great insurance. Enjoy the read: Practical Guide to Wellsite Geology

Hi, I am Megan Miller pretty much a born and raised Geologist, my training days started when I was 4 years old this included the tasks of washing samples, seeing what was going on in the Doghouse and logging truck. Our family has even spent a few Christmas' on the rigs with Charlie Brown Christmas Trees and the water hauler making a skating rink for us to play some puck. I worked my summers since I was 16 either on the rigs or once in University for oil and gas companies.

Keitech Consultants is a family ran business that started in the 80s in a similar economic climate as of recent. Ever since then it has been a collaboration of  my father working in the field and performing a juggling of the contractors while myself and my mother took the reports to get photocopied and bound them up in our make shift home office. We since have grown into an office space downtown Calgary and into a fully operating company. Through this time I had many different roles which at some points I have stepped away from the company and others come back to work as a contractor. I have left to work at Oil & Gas Companies to expand my knowledge and ultimately bringing my experiences back to Keitech to help Keitech grow into the best company it can be.

The ultimate goal of my blog is to bring attention to the wellsite community and share the knowledge that is normally sitting on rig sites.
